GOD, WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR ME?
We read last week that God promises to guide us. We look to a guide when we’re going on a trip that requires expertise and experience that we don’t have. We want someone that has taken the trip before, even someone who has navigated much more difficult territory than they’re guiding us through. We want someone who knows the dangers and risks that may lie ahead, how to avoid them, and how to respond if we encounter them. We also want someone who knows the highlights and the best views. We want a guide with a plan and not just a plan that allows us to survive, but also thrive.
Read Jeremiah 29:1-15
The people Jeremiah was writing to were living in very difficult times, being exiled from their land to live among their conquerors. Any plans they had for their life seemed over, and they had little agency or authority to design a new plan for their lives. The Lord was so good to send them a word declaring that He had a plan for them and gave them instructions on how to be a part of this plan. They were to call out to Him, pray to Him, seek Him, and search for Him with all their hearts. This promise of a plan is for us, too, as well as this process. Call out to Him. Pray to Him. Seek Him. Search for Him with all your heart.
As we continue to seek God and search for Him wholeheartedly, we will learn His plans for us.
Before we begin our study, let’s begin with what you already know about His plans.
How would you describe God’s plans for your life?
What has been most helpful in knowing God’s plans for your life?
End today by praying that God would reveal His plans to you in the ways you need most. Thank Him for His plans you have seen most evident in your life. Ask Him to make one of His plans more known to You.
