Have you ever thought about what you love the MOST about God?

Do you have a FAVORITE part of God?

I think I do. Or at least I know today’s favorite thing about God.

Like me, you may change your mind about this. Something about being a girl makes us slightly susceptible to changing our minds about a number of things. That’s one of my favorite things about us girls, actually… how flexible we are. How much we embrace learning new things and maturing as we walk through life. However, this isn’t about what we love most about ourselves (although I hope you love a lot of things about yourself). This is about what we love most about God.

I do tend to cycle through what I love most about God. In some seasons, what I love most about Him is that He’s in charge, not me. In others, it’s that He’s unchanging or that He’s just and I can LET IT GO, or His forgiveness. Right now, in this season of life, I love that He is a God who reveals; He is still teaching me. After a lifetime of knowing and seeking Him, I am still learning new things about Him, and He’s still revealing new things about me. He’s still revealing new things for me. I love that our God is a God that continually reveals, and this makes me hopeful, expectant, and confident: hopeful that with all I have already received from Him, He still has even more for me; expectant because He wants me to dream and imagine what my life still has in store; and confident because as long as I remain surrendered to Him, I know He will reveal what I need as we walk together.

If you have felt stuck, in your circumstances or in your faith, I believe God will use this devotional to help you have hope that your best days are ahead; expectant for healing, provision, and restoration; and confident that He will provide what you need.

When something is revealed to us, it means that what was once hidden is now seen. What was in the dark is now in the light. What do you feel is hidden from you? What do you feel you just… can’t…. see?

When I’m worried, stressed, anxious, frustrated, or discouraged, here is a summary of what I ask God to REVEAL to me:

THE PAST

Why did that happen?

What should I have done?

THE PRESENT

What am I supposed to do now?

What are they expecting me to do?

What are they thinking about me?

THE FUTURE

What’s going to happen?

Will this work out?

Are they going to change?

Am I going to change?

In the moment, I tell myself that what I need is for the purpose of the past, the path for the present, and the plans of the future to be revealed to me at once. I feel so sure that if God would reveal these things to me, I would find healing, purpose, and hope. I have spent many, many hours asking God to reveal to me the answers about my past, present, and future.

I’m thankful for a God who hears our cries, answers our prayers, and that He is the perfect Teacher, because a Good Teacher knows how to answer our questions. He knows when to answer our questions, and He knows when to direct us to a better question.

God has directed me to better questions; questions that form me more than inform me. See, if I’m asking questions that will form me, then I can walk into any season and circumstance not heavy with uncertainty but full of assurance. If I know more about Who is leading me, there’s less fear in the following. If my time with the Lord is spent asking Him to reveal Himself to me, I’m asking the questions that bring the most answers.

Let’s ask God to REVEAL these 4 things about Him these next 4 weeks:

HIS PERSONHOOD

God, who are You?

HIS PROMISES

God, what do You promise me?

HIS PLANS

God, what are Your ways?

HIS PURSUIT

God, how do You feel about me?

As we prepare our hearts these next four weeks for Oaks Women Conference, I believe God wants us to spend time in His Word and ask Him to reveal Himself to us. I know we will all be tempted to ask for the more practical and what seems the most urgent to be revealed. I want to assure you, you are following a God who knows exactly what you need. As we ask Him to reveal Himself, I am confident that we will receive all we need from Him. These next few weeks, let’s trade in our questions that ask Him to inform us and instead let’s ask Him to form us.

Love, Pastor Cara
